We are always selling something
As a salesperson most of my professional career I always pondered the fact that if we did not exist the world as we know it wouldn't exist. The "salesperson" gets a bad wrap many times cause we are looked upon as pests or unnecessary etc. But if you think about it n any vertical, family, business, organization, government, legal system, etc. everyone is selling something. Our children sell us parents on wanting things or doing things. The lawyers need to sell the judge and or opposing attorney on their cases. The government officials need to sell us "people" on their beliefs, views and action items on making our communities and country a better place (some are not very good at this mind you). The IT Manager has to sell the idea of a large Microsoft Exchange upgrade to his management in order to justify making the millions or thousands of dollars of an investment that is needed to perform that particular project. Obviously, for profit businesses need to sell stuff in order to turn a profit and earn income and even not for profit organization are selling the righteous causes that they fight for to enable donations to keep flowing in. So to sum it all up. I am very excited to start my blogging and teach this lesson in my first entry on my blog The Modern Sales Strategy. No matter where we are, or what we are doing or when or who or how WE are always selling something. So remember this when you get down on yourself cause sales suck or are just in a bad mood or whatever. Even when you are bummed cause that deal never came through. Learn from it. Think about your customer and how he needs to sell your idea to the people that write the check. Help him or her sell your product to his management just like you sold the idea to him or her. I hope you enjoy my first entry! Shawn
