Loosen up

Being professional Salespeople, we have a stigma that we should be these all knowing robots that are immune to all surroundings, have all the answers at all times and just sell people into buying. Blah blah blah. I have seen people in our local supermarket freak out on the store manager (or should be called chief sales officer cause that is REALLY what he or she is if you think about what they do) and completely bug out over an item not being stock that is on sale or not honoring a coupon etc. We all need to loosen up and realize that if it wasn't for sales people or SELLING OF THINGS businesses wouldn't exist. No one would know how or what to buy from hardware to software to services to auto parts to manufacturers to groceries; well you get the point. Loosen up and realize you are in the best profession in the world. You get to help people with our solutions, make money and be part of the highest paid professions in the country. Being uptight and worrying about sales and what not is a worthless exercise that drains your energy. In general, we all need to unwind and loosen up. Real quick story kind of unrelated but related to uptightness and wasting energy. I made that word up. ;). At least three times a day while I am driving you have THAT driver that swerves behind you to the next lane and comes back. Swerves to the next lane passes you but then comes back behind. Tries again gets a car length ahead and back to square one. Now I get that we NEED to get to our destination as quick as possible but getting that uptight about a car length is just silly. Take a deep breathe when you get anxious and are about to do something silly and think to yourself. Is this really worth getting worked up? Whether your in sales or not, keep your eye on the fruit and love sales and admire salespeople and lets have a great 2013. Caddy Shack reference for those of you who got that. ;)
