A quick story before I make my point. I was watching the news this morning and a commercial came on. I had turned away for a moment to cut apples for my daughters and I heard a voice. It was an elderly woman on a Cablevsion commercial browsing the Internet on her laptop. She kept saying we are down and can't connect asking her husband to check it out. Now I have NOTHING against the elderly but it wasn't commonplace years ago to air this commercial. She then asks her husband if he unplugged the darn router. He said no I didn't and then goes to check. Evidently, he did unplug it and the commercial ends with "many of the issues can be fixed at home but if you need us we are here 24 x 7". Now this commercial just shows how powerful the Internet is. It has engulfed even the elderly who based on experiences with my grandparents were against it for years. Saying its rubbish and a waste of time and poison for the brain, etc. Everyone is online!!!
Everyone is reading the Internet everyday and sometimes every few minutes. Make sure you are putting yourselves in a position to be noticed. And I am not talking about speaking up at an event or to your peers or bosses. I am talking about writing. Write stuff about how you feel, who you are, how you sell and why you sell on blogs, social sites, community online groups, etc. Write stuff where it's searchable. Searchable to all types of people, prospects and customers. We need to take advantage of this opportunity to express who we are. Your competition is doing this and you just need to do it smarter. Build a reputation online of having VALUE. Make people wanna read your stuff cause its interesting or exciting or knowledgable.
If you think people don't read stuff you write your mistaken. As you build a report and confidence about who you are, they will read and tell others about what they read. Either by "liking" or "sharing" or talking to colleagues. Write and make it noticeable.
Happy Selling!
